Girls! Here's the guide to polishing boots! Remember, don't be too stingy with the amount of kiwi you use.

1. Clean boots with wet cotton.
Reason: Cotton will easily remove the sand and dust particles off the boots so that the boots won’t have scratches when polished later.

2. Take a lot of kiwi (with hands/cloth) and apply it in a circular motion (just like polishing boots), until it feels dry. Using hands would be better. Spread it out evenly. There should be no shiny surface below the layer. If still looks shiny, apply more kiwi. Reason: Applying a base is important as polishing requires a foundation. The thicker your base, the easier it is to polish and make it shine.

3. (OPTIONAL)
Only if your base is thick, and appears to have cracks, you may want to burn your boots. If your base is thin, burning your boots would only spoil the leather, so it is not advisable. Burning your boots means to heat up the kiwi on your boots with a small flame on the candle, without the flame touching the surface of the boots. Always have an adult’s supervision before doing this. A steadier flame is easier to work with, therefore you may want to turn off the fans or close the windows. Reason: Burning boots helps to patch up the cracks of kiwi on the boots. Thus with a smoother surface, it is easier to polish and shine. Not to mention, looks better.

4. (OPTIONAL)
Place boots in the sun for about 30 mins.
Reason: The sun is a source of heat, it will help to heat up the kiwi on the boots and even out the kiwi on the boots.

5. After burning/placing boots in the sun/done with applying the base only, it is best to leave the boots in a shady area for at least 30 mins. Reason: Leaving the boots to settle down is important. It helps the newly coated kiwi to stick/join to the previous layer. Also because kiwi is an oil-based material, giving it time to dry up will make it easier to shine later too.

6. Take your cloth in hand, use it to absorb some water, then, take VERY little kiwi and start polishing in a circular motion all over, portion by portion of the boots. Not the whole boots with that amount of kiwi at once. By using too much kiwi, it will be like coating another base again which will not result in any shine. Therefore, take very little kiwi only, as you want to be shining the boots, not coating again. If one part of the boots doesn’t shine, don’t worry, finish up polishing all the other parts of the boots first before coming back to the same spot. If your cloth is already very damp, you do not need anymore water for your cloth. Repeat process over and over till it’s shiny. If it doesn't shine, it could be that you used too much kiwi. Reason: To make the boots shine.

7. Your boots is shiny! :D
